Project Solution
Through a collaborative process with District stakeholders and Climatec, VCPUSD developed a long-range energy master plan to address inefficiencies in existing facilities before pursuing renewable energy solutions. Interior and exterior LED lighting modernizations, heating and cooling equipment, building automation systems, door contacts and sports field lighting enhancements were some of the improvements implemented. The District also secured smart weather-based irrigation control systems to reduce water waste.
Students & teachers alike enjoyed the improved comfort of new LED and HVAC in the classroom while M&O work orders saw a steep decline. After years of paying sharp annual increases to San Diego Gas & Electric, VCPUSD now generates savings in excess of original projections and redirects those funds into the classroom.
Project Results
With this program, the District reduces Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by nearly 484 metric tons annually, which equates to 95 cars removed from the road, 68 Valley Center homes powered and more than 13,500 trees preserved from deforestation.
